I first met Mélanie and Antoine at a wedding I photographed in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. And obviously I did such a good job that shortly after they invited me to photograph their wedding in the Dordogne, France! And believe me I only needed to be asked the once :o))
I arrived in the region of Périgord a couple of days before to familiarise my self with the different venues and to also make sure I knew the routes between locations. As I cannot speak french the last thing I wanted was to get lost and have to attempt to ask directions :P
On the day of the wedding, there was an initial visit to the mayors office to conduct the legal part of the marriage then a short walk to the ceremony held in the Cathédrale Saint-Front right in the heart of Périgueux. Possibly one of the biggest and amazing places I have had the pleasure of photographing a wedding ceremony!! Once the 1.5hr ceremony was complete a small fleet of classic cars took the Mélanie and Antoine to the L’Ecluse Hotel for the reception and partying - which lasted until 7am in morning, though I only lasted until 3am!
The weather was hot! The wedding was fantastic! The venues and locations were stunning! The people were friendly! And the food was amazing! I can safely say….I love being a wedding photographer!
This was my first destination wedding, but hopefully not the last!
Below are just some of the photographs from their wedding day.
