Once ready, we left the hotel on foot and walked through Oxford to the ceremony in the chapel of The Queen’s College. Kim, her mum, her bridesmaid and I made our way along Broad Street and down Queen’s Lane and stopping off for a few posed photographs under the Bridge of Sighs.
The ceremony was held in the chapel at The Queen’s College. After the ceremony, we stayed within the college grounds for a short period to take a few formal family group photographs, followed by some portraits of Joe and Kim around the quadrangles and gardens. The warm September light and historic surroundings provided a clean, classic backdrop without the need to move far from the celebrations.
The rest of the day took place at The Queen’s College. I stayed to photograph throughout the reception and the first dance, capturing the flow of the day as it unfolded — speeches, conversations, and the shift from daytime celebration into the evening. Also taking some time out with Joe and Kim to capture some additional bride and groom portraits in the evening light.
The Queen’s College is one of Oxford’s oldest colleges, founded in 1341. Set just off the High Street, it offers a quiet, enclosed environment despite its central location. The chapel, quadrangles and gardens all sit close together, making it a practical and visually consistent venue for a wedding day, while the stone architecture and long history give it a strong sense of place.
Overall, it was a beautiful, well-paced wedding day, helped by warm weather and clear skies, and it was a pleasure to document Joe and Kim’s wedding in the heart of Oxford.
